Stockard Channing and Stacy Keach are among the thesps lined up to star in Lincoln Center Theater’s Off Broadway staging of “Other Desert Cities,” the new play by Jon Robin Baitz.
Linda Lavin and Elizabeth Marvel also have roles in show helmed by Joe Mantello.
The storyline follows a novelist (Marvel) on a Christmastime visit to her family in Palm Springs. Channing and Keach portray the novelist’s parents, with Lavin cast as her aunt. One more part remains to be filled.
Baitz plays “A Fair Country” and “Ten Unknowns” both preem-ed at LCT, and another, “The Substance of Fire,” had an extended run there. Mantello recently worked with Channing in the Roundabout Theater Company’s Broadway revival of “Pal Joey.”
“Desert Cities” joins an LCT fall slate that also includes the new tuner “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” and a new play by John Guare, “A Free Man of Color.” “Desert Cities” begins previews Dec. 16 ahead of a Jan. 13 opening at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.
