Manhattan Theater Club has nailed down a Broadway slot for the Tyne Daly-toplined revival of “Master Class.”
Production, helmed by Stephen Wadsworth, was first staged at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center last year. Daly will reprise her lead role as opera diva Maria Callas in the Terrence McNally play, which first played Broadway in 1995.
Further casting of the Gotham incarnation remains to be confirmed. D.C. cast included Jeremy Cohen, Laquita Mitchell, Ta’u Pupu’a and Alexandra Silber.
Daly was last on Broadway in MTC’s 2006 staging of David Lindsay-Abaire’s “Rabbit Hole.” The latest from Lindsay-Abaire, “Good People,” will play MTC’s Broadway venue, the Samuel J. Friedman Theater, prior to “Master Class.”
Show begins previews May 24 ahead of a June 21 opening.
