LONDON — Indie distrib Momentum Pictures has snapped up U.K. rights to Aussie pic “Wasted on the Young.”
Pic, sold internationally through Fortissimo Films, marks the feature film debut from helmer Ben C. Lucas and stars Oliver Ackland (“The Proposition”), Adelaide Clemens (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) and Alex Russell (“Wheeler Boys”). Janelle Landers and Aidan O’Bryan produce.
The Down Under high-school drama follows the tale of two brothers — one cool kid and one geek — who are placed at the mercy of their classmates’ opinion after a traumatic event at a party sets of a chain reaction of fatal events.
Deal was negotiated by Fortissimo exec VP, international sales, Nicole Mackey and Momentum’s acquisitions coordinator Henry Beattie and senior VP worldwide acquisitions Robert Walak, following the pic’s world preem at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
Pic was produced in Western Oz through WBMC and was backed by ScreenWest and Screen Australia.
Paramount holds Aussie and Kiwi rights to the pic.
