Warner Bros. is just “Wild About Harry,” setting up a remake of the 2000 Irish dramedy with Michael Connolly producing via his Mad Hatter Entertainment banner.
Kirk Rudell, a writer and co-exec producer on “Will and Grace” and “Spin City,” has been tapped to pen the screenplay. Todd Komarnicki (“Elf”) of Guy Walks Into a Bar is exec producing.
The original film, produced by Scalia Prods., starred Brendan Gleeson as a TV chef who’s beaten up on the eve of his divorce hearing. He suffers partial amnesia and can’t remember anything past his 18th year. His condition gives him the opportunity to right the mistakes he’s made in life.
Paramount began developing the remake in 2004 at Guy Walks Into a Bar and Vertigo Entertainment.
Connolly was most recently a co-producer on “How to Train Your Dragon” and is attached as producer to the sequel. He’s also producing the Arthurian origin story “Pendragon” at New Regency with Sylvain White attached to direct.
