Mark Wahlberg is bearish on Seth MacFarlane’s feature directing debut “Ted.” Thesp is in final talks to star in the pic, about a grown man whose cherished teddy bear comes to life as the result of a childhood wish.
Scott Stuber is producing the comedy for Universal, while Media Rights Capital is co-financing. MacFarlane, creator of “Family Guy,” will voice the CGI teddy bear.
Stuber produces via his U-based Stuber Pictures with MacFarlane, John Jacobs and MRC.
MacFarlane penned the script with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, who also will produce.
The Pajiba blog first reported two weeks ago that Wahlberg was in talks to topline the laffer.
Wahlberg is in theaters in December in Relativity Media and Paramount’s “The Fighter,” starring opposite Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo.
Whalberg is repped by WME and Leverage Management; MacFarlane, by WME and Smart Entertainment.
