Columbia Pictures has nabbed feature rights to Neil Strauss’ nonfiction tome “Emergency!: This Book Will Save Your Life” as a possible star vehicle for Robert Downey Jr.
“Emergency” tells the motivational story of one man’s journey to stay alive and protect his loved ones by learning to survive in the wild.
“Neil Strauss is a tremendous talent and we think ‘Emergency!’ is his best work yet,” said Col prexy Matt Tolmach. “It’s a hugely entertaining read that couldn’t be more timely or topical.”Strauss’ previous books include “The Game,” “The Long Hard Road Out of Hell With Marilyn Manson” and “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star With Jenna Jameson.” The author’s “Everyone Loves You When You’re Dead” is set to hit bookshelves in March.
Downey can next be seen in Warner Bros.’ “Due Date,” set for release Nov. 5. The studio is in production on the “Sherlock Holmes” sequel, plus Downey’s set to topline “The Avengers” and “Iron Man 3.”
