LONDON — The RAAM Awards, which will take place on Feb. 9, has changed its judging criteria in a number of categories, and will no longer use box-office figures as the sole arbiter of success in exhib categories.
Call for entries and nominations are open for Cinema of the Year U.K. and Cinema of the Year Ireland; Independent Cinema of the Year U.K. and Independent Cinema of the Year Ireland; Retail Team of the Year; and Innovation in Cinema Award.
Chairman Tony Meehan said criteria for exhib categories, which was previously based on box office only, has changed because now “there is more to running a successful cinema than simply box office.”
Cinema of the Year is open to circuits with more than 10 sites and is judged on innovation, marketing, percentage of growth in box-office sales and concession sales, while Retail Team of the Year looks at achievement and innovation in concession sales in cinemas. Innovation in Cinema is open to a company or individual worthy of recognition for innovation in the exhib sector.
Closing date for entries and nominations is Nov. 10.
