LONDON – David Puttnam, prexy of the U.K. Film Distributors’ Assn. and indie film producer of pics such as “The Killing Fields” and “Local Hero,” will receive the 2011 Intl. Award at Blighty’s RAAM kudofest in February.
Kudo recognizes Puttnam’s significant international achievements and contributions to the British cinema industry.
Puttnam spent 30 years as an indie film producer and after making a slew of award-winning pics, including “Chariots of Fire” and “Midnight Express,” he retired and now focuses on work in education and the environment.
Paramount Pictures’ international exec vice prexy and RAAM advisory board member Roger Pollack said that Puttnam was “the natural choice to receive the RAAM International Award in 2011.”
Previous recipients of the nod, which will be presented in London on Feb. 9 at the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square, include Variety VP and editorial director Peter Bart, Danny Boyle, Richard Attenborough, Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and Andrew Cripps.
