McKenna finds love for DreamWorks

Scribe pens untitled romantic drama for Kurtzman, Orci

“The Devil Wears Prada” scribe Aline Brosh McKenna is feeling more romance in the air.

She’s penning an untitled romantic dramedy for writing/producing duo Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who will produce the pic for DreamWorks Studios via their KO Paper Products banner.

Based on an original idea by McKenna, the dramedy will follow the on-off love affairs and friendships among a close circle of friends over two decades.

Mandy Safavi, an exec VP at Paper Products, will exec produce.

Orci and Kurtzman, whose production company is based at DreamWorks, have wanted to team with McKenna since meeting the screenwriter last fall.

Several months ago, McKenna came to Orci and Kurtzman with her idea. The trio subsequently worked on a pitch and took the project to DreamWorks.

McKenna, whose credits also include “27 Dresses,” has several upcoming projects. She’s next in theaters with “Morning Glory,” toplining Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford and Patrick Wilson.

“Morning Glory,” which opens Nov. 11, was directed by Roger Michell and produced for Paramount by J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burke through their Bad Robot shingle.

McKenna is set to pen the script for Cameron Crowe’s Matt Damon starrer “We Bought a Zoo,” from 20th Century Fox.

Orci and Kurtzman are working on DreamWorks’ “Cowboys and Aliens,” helmed by Jon Favreau and starring Daniel Craig, which they adapted and are producing. They also are exec producing CBS’ upcoming “Hawaii Five-O.”

McKenna, Kurtzman and Orci are repped by CAA.
