Magnolia finds ‘All Good Things’

Company acquires U.S. rights to Gosling, Dunst pic

Magnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. rights to Andrew Jarecki’s mystery-romance “All Good Things,” starring Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst and Frank Langella, and is planning a December theatrical release.

Project’s inspired by the story of Robert Durst, scion of the New York real estate family and a suspect in the disappearance of his wife in 1982. The script was developed by Jarecki, Marc Smerling, and Marcus Hinchey and written by Smerling and Hinchey.

“Because it is impossible to know exactly what happened, we have not tried to replicate the history of the case, but to capture the emotion and complexity of this unsolved mystery that has for years been kept hidden from public view,” Jarecki noted.

The Weinstein Co., which was originally on board to distribute, continues to handle foreign sales after Jarecki took back rights in March.

Jarecki directed and produced along with Smerling, his producing partner on “Capturing the Friedmans” and the upcoming Rogue release “Catfish.” “All Good Things” was also produced by Michael London and Bruna Papandrea and financed by London’s Groundswell Prods.

Magnolia’s recent releases include Alex Gibney’s “Casino Jack and the United States of Money,” Luca Guadagnino’s “I Am Love,” Neil Jordan’s “Ondine” and Lucy Walker’s “Countdown to Zero.” Upcoming releases include “Freakonomics: The Movie,” Gibney’s “Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer” and Joaquin Phoenix’s “I’m Still Here.”

Groundswell’s in post production on “Win Win.”
