A Beverly Hills judge sentenced Linsday Lohan to 90 days in jail on Tuesday for violating the terms of her probation.
Lohan, now 24, sobbed as judge Marsha Ravel handed down the punishment.
“Please…I’m not taking this as a joke,” Lohan pleaded before the sentencing. “It’s my life. It’s my career.”
After a long and public legal battle, Lohan ultimately failed to complete her court-ordered alcohol education classes stemming from a 2007 drunk driving incident, the judge ruled. Lohan will also serve 90 days at an inpatient rehab facility upon her release from prison.
“It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught,” the judge said.
Lohan will begin serving her 90 day sentence in an L.A. County jail on July 20.
The “Mean Girls” actress most recently made headlines by skipping her court appearance in May while attending the Cannes Film Festival in France.
Lohan is currently attached to star opposite Bill Pullman in “Inferno,” an indie drama about the 1972 landmark porno movie “Deep Throat.”
No word yet on whether or not that project is affected by Tuesday’s ruling.
She can next be seen in Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete,” which Fox will release on Sept. 3.
