Journalist and publicist Collette Wood died Oct. 1 in Desert Hot Springs, Calif., of lung cancer. She was 70.
Wood covered theater, TV and wrote for the Hollywood Reporter and freelanced for the Los Angeles Times and the Desert Sun.
She did public relations for Motown including for Diana Ross and the Commodores before setting up her own company through which she did publicity for Universal Studios, United Artists, MGM and Columbia. She partnered with publicist Maria LaMagra to form LaMagra & Wood Public Relations.
Wood served as prexy of the Beverly Hills/Hollywood chapter of the NAACP.
Wood is survived by her husband of 50 years, Allen, a daughter and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at First Baptist Church in Desert Hot Springs.
