‘It’ dancers in prison

Inmates get lessons from Jackson's team

Two weeks ago, Travis Payne, associate director and choreographer of Michael Jackson’s “This Is It,” and two dancers from the ill-fated concert, Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid, flew to the Philippines to teach some new moves to the 1,500 “dancing inmates” of a maximum security prison.

The prisoners of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center first became cyber-sensations when their synchronized exercise regime was uploaded onto YouTube in 2007 — one particular dance routine set to Jackson’s “Thriller” scored more than 37 million hits. Their repertoire now consists of some 30 songs, many of which are Jackson’s.
