Indomina nabs rights to ‘Young’

Indie distribber acquires North American rights

Indie distrib Indomina Releasing has acquired all North American rights to Toronto Film Festival title “Wasted on the Young,” written and directed by Oliver Ackland in his feature directorial debut.

The Australian teen thriller, which had its international preem at Toronto, stars Ackland (“The Proposition”), Adelaide Clemens (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) and Alex Russell (“Wheeler Boys”).

Film was produced by Janelle Landers and Aidan O’Bryan of WBMC.

Deal was negotiated by Indomina Releasing’s VP of acquisitions Rob Williams and head of business and legal affairs Toby Midgen, and Fortissimo senior VP Winnie Lau on behalf of the filmmakers.

Film tells the story of a manipulative and charming swim captain and campus drug dealer who rules his high school. When a smart, confident sophomore rejects his advances and takes interest in his stepbrother, he seeks revenge. An incident at one of his parties sets off a dramatic chain of events and the stepbrothers find their lives at the mercy of popular opinion.

The Indomina Group was launched in 2008 by musician Jasbinder Singh Mann and Vicini, an asset manager based in the Dominican Republic with investments in energy, finance, tourism and real estate within the Caribbean and Central American region. Company is based in L.A. and the Dominican Republic.
