IFC takes ‘Trip’

Picks up U.S. rights to Coogan comedy

IFC Films has picked up U.S. rights to “The Trip,” the Michael Winterbottom pic toplined by Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

Brit comedy, which preemed at the Toronto Film Fest, sees Coogan and Brydon reprise the fictionalized selves they played in “Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story.” New film, which was also packaged as a six-hour BBC mini-series, sees the pair on a gastro-tour of the Lake District of the Yorkshire Dales in the U.K.

“Trip” is produced by Revolution Films’ Andrew Eaton and Melissa Parmenter. Eaton negotiated the distribution pact with IFC’s Arianna Bocco.

U.S. release date for “The Trip” has not yet been nailed down.
