The hiring spree at the Weinstein Co. continues, with finance vet David Hutkin signing on to head a new division called the Strategic Initiatives, Investments and Banking Group.
Hutkin — whose resume includes entertainment finance posts at Bank of America, the Lewis Horwitz Org and, most recently, First California Bank — will head the new TWC group as exec veep. He’ll concentrate on financing for both individual films and the company’s overall slate, as well as on off-balance sheet arrangements. He’ll also work to bolster and expand the company’s banking relationships.
Based in Los Angeles and reporting to TWC toppers Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Hutkin will be joined in the division by Vivian Tarn, who has worked with Hutkin for more than seven years.
The hires comes on the heels of a couple of other recent staff additions, with Donna Gigliotti tapped last week as TWC’s head of production and Brad Luff added to the mix as prexy of production at Dimension, TWC’s genre division.
Also part of the expansion is recent word of a deal with industrialist Len Blavatnik, as well as a financial restructuring pact that was sealed over the summer.
Company has “The King’s Speech,” which will open the Dubai fest, and “Blue Valentine” bowing over the next several weeks.
