‘The Expendables’ premieres in L.A.

Expendables

Lionsgate’s premiere of “The Expendables” has drawn a seriously excited crowd outside the Chinese on Tuesday evening.

With its massive cast on hand, the black carpet was literally bristling with photographers. And with no after-party tonight, attendees to the screening showed up much earlier than usual.

“You will not see a film like this ever ever again,” proclaims Terry Crews on the black carpet. “At least not until the sequel. You really should mark it down – there will never be another one like this.”

Asked about the egos involved, Crews says, “Well there’s big egos and there’s strong egos and everyone in this has a strong ego — we’ve all been down and have come all the way back.”

Dolph Lundgren says he’s “overjoyed” to be back on the big screen after more than a decade.

“My favorite scenes are the ones with Sly–I think we have that great Italian-Nordic chemistry going on. I’ve always loved working with him.”
“I love you guys,” Stallone says as he intros the film. “My fellow expendables put everything they could into this. Most of all, thanks to my wife and kids.”

Joe Drake of lionsgate explains the lack of after party by noting that producer Avi LErner is taking the cast to Europe tonight for a promo tour

“This is such a movie for guys everywhere, he adds.

The film ended at 9:30 with big applause. “Took me right back to the 80s,” one manager said. “Nothing but explosions and guns.”

Biggest laugh came on Willis’ response to Stallone asking why Shwarzenegger was in such a bad mood. “He wants to be president,” he said.
