Dennis Quaid is toplining indie thriller “Beneath the Darkness” as a mysterious mortician with Martin Guigui directing.
Pic, which has started shooting in Austin, Texas, also stars Aimee Teegarden, Tony Oller, Devon Werkheiser, Brett Cullen and Stephen Lunsford. Ronnie Clemmer (“A League of Their Own”) is producing from a screenplay by Bruce Wilkinson, who exec produces with Scott Mednick (“Where the Wild Things Are”).
Set in a small Texas town, story centers on a teen (Oller) who struggles to expose the grim secrets of the house owned by Quaid’s character, a respected local hero.
Quaid received a Screen Actors Guild Award nom Thursday for his work as President Clinton in HBO’s “A Special Relationship.” He recently completed “Footloose” and “Soul Surfer.”Teegarden’s known for a recurring role on “Friday Night Lights” and will next be seen in “Scream 4” and “Prom.” Oller’s making his feature film debut after smallscreen roles in “Gigantic” and “As the Bell Rings”; Werkheiser’s on “Ned Declassified”; and Lunsford is the star of CW hit “Kamen Rider” and recurs on “Private Practice.”
