Susanne Bier’s “In a Better World” has been tapped as the Danish entry for a foreign language Oscar nomination.
Produced by Sisse Graum Jorgensen for Zentropa from a script by Anders Thomas Jensen, pic had its international preem this month at the Toronto Film Festival.
“In a Better World” stars Ulrich Thomsen, Trine Dyrholm and Mikael Persbrandt in a story about how events in a refugee camp in Africa affect the lives of families in a small Danish town.
It has been bought by Sony Pictures Classics for U.S. distribution.
Submissions for the foreign language Oscar must reach the Academy by 5 p.m. Oct. 1. Nominations will be announced on Jan. 25. The 83rd Academy Awards will be held at the Kodak Theater on Feb. 27.
