Summit Entertainment has acquired feature rights to zombie romancer “Warm Bodies” and tapped Jonathan Levine to write and direct.
“Bodies” is based on a book by Isaac Marion, who originally self-published the novel and sold it through his website before the publishing rights were picked up by Atria Books, with publication set for this summer.
Pic will be produced by Bruna Papandrea through her Make Movies banner and exec produced by Laurie Webb and Cori Shepherd Stern.
Story centers on an existentially tormented zombie who begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend of one of his victims and starts a chain reaction that will transform him and his fellow zombies.
Levine wrote and directed “The Wackness” and helmed “All the Boys Love Mandy Lane.”
Papandrea produced the upcoming “All Good Things,” starring Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst and Frank Langella.
