Longtime film journalist Roger Ebert will receive the Mel Novikoff Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival (April 22-May 6).The honor, which is given to an individual who has helped enhance the public’s understanding of cinema, will be awarded during An Evening with Roger Ebert and Friends at 5:30 p.m. May 1 at the Castro Theatre. Ebert is best known for his work as the Chicago Sun-Times film critic. He has written numerous books and film critiques and was the first film writer to receive a Pulitzer Prize for criticism.
