Market Force Information, a customer intelligence solutions company, has joined forces with print-checking firm Ted Costas Group to form the company’s theater and production division.

Merger marks the second acquisition in the past two years for Market Force, which bought Certified Reports, a theater-checking services company, in early 2008.

Market Force chief marketing officer and senior VP of strategy Janet Eden-Harris said the acquisition comes at a time when digital cinema requires a more unified view among exhibs and distributors.

Market Force reps all the major studios and most major exhibs, providing technical expertise in theaters for quality print checking and presentation.

“When you look at the theater-going audience, a lot of the time if they have a negative experience, they don’t complain, they just don’t come back,” Costas said. “The industry is going through a major transformation right now and there is huge potential for growth. We look at what kind of services we can provide to make the theater experience the best it can be.”

Market Force has expanded its scope to include digital quality control and alignment services.

Effective March 1, deal was announced as part of the Sho-West confab, which runs today through Thursday in Las Vegas.
