Market preems of DeAPlaneta Intl. laffer “Que se mueran los feos” and Imagina Intl. Sales astronaut docu “Son & Moon” are among highlights at the fifth edition of Madrid de Cine.
Event also screens Jordi Llompart’s “Magic Journey to Africa,” Europe’s first live-action film shot entirely in stereoscopic 3D, which Filmax Intl. sells worldwide.
Also on tap is the domestic market debut of new sales agent Vertice Sales, which presents David Serrano’s musical comedy “With or Without Love.”
Organized by Spain’s FAPAE producers lobby, Madrid de Cine has carved out a niche in the international calendar.
It enjoys strong public backing, including support from Spain’s Icex foreign trade institute, the ICAA film institute, Madrid’s regional government and town hall, the Madrid Film Commission and Spain’s producers rights protection society, Egeda.
Minimart’s new dates, two weeks later than usual, have been well-received by Spanish sellers. “The longer time frame allows us to follow up on Cannes and resume contacts aiming to close deals in Madrid,” says Imagina Intl. Sales film topper Beatriz Setuain.
Participants and major events will be announced by early June.
