For the first time nationwide, moviegoers will have the chance to belt out their favorite tunes from “The Sound of Music.”
The 20th Century Fox pic is skedded to launch at 498 locations — the widest theatrical re-release of the studio’s 1965 smash since 1973 — on Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 as a sing-along, commemorating the film’s 45th anni.
Fox plans to screen a digitally re-mastered print that is tied to the film’s high-def DVD release Nov. 2.
Though auds across the U.S. can catch “Sound of Music” during its two-night engagement, sing-along screenings of the pic have happened periodically on a limited basis. Fox has screened the tuner at the Hollywood Bowl for the past five years, with its most recent outing Saturday as part of the studio’s 75th anni celebration.
