Twenty-one nominations have been tapped for the 20th Environmental Media Awards, including feature prize contenders “Avatar” and “Fantastic Mr. Fox” from Fox and “The Kids Are All Right” from Focus.

Winners will be announced Oct. 16 in ceremonies at Warner Bros. Studios. Candidates are selected for fulfilling the mission of promoting environmental awareness

“These films and television shows were seen by hundreds of millions of people, which means the inclusion of environmental messaging is so important,” said Debbie Levin, president.

Documentary noms went to Participant’s “Climate of Change,” Disney’s “Disneynature Oceans” and HBO’s “Gasland.”

TV episodic drama nods were given to Fox’s “Bones,” ABC’s “Castle” and HBO’s “Treme.” Episodic comedy nominations went to NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” and “30 Rock” and Fox’s “The Simpsons.”

The syndicated “Eco Company,” Disney Channel’s “Lights, Camera, Take Action!” and Nickelodeon’s “Nick News with Linda Ellerbee” took the children’s live action nominations. Children’s animated nods went to Disney Channel’s “Handy Manny,” Nick’s “Ni Hao Kai-Lan” and “Spongebob Squarepants.”
