LONDON — Arab cinema’s glitterati are descending on the Abu Dhabi Film Festival to support the fourth edition of the event.
Appearances from well-known screen personalities such as Egyptian thesps Yousra and Yehia el Fakharany and Syria’s Bassam Kousa are just a few of the Arabian stars who will turn up for the event, which unspools on Oct. 14.
Renowned Egyptian star Lebleba, who has performed in pics such as “Did el Hokouma” and “Leila Sakhina,” is attending the fest, as are new talent such as Ghada Adel, who starred in Mohamed Khan’s “In the Heliopolis Flat” and Fathy Abdel Wahab (“Sahar al Layali,” “Fawzia: A Special Blend”).
Further appearances are expected from Syrian actor Rashid Assaf, Morocco’s Hicham Bahloul, Lebanese chanteuse Janine Dagher and Egyptian thesp Tamer Hagras.
A slew of personalities from the Gulf region are also confirmed to appear including Kuwaiti thesps Suad Abdullah and Abdulhussain Abdulredha.
Cast members of pics screening at the fest will also touch down in the Emirate to show their support, including Sudanese-born Alexander Siddig, who stars in Julian Schnabel’s pic “Miral,” which is presented at a gala night as part of the fest’s Narrative Feature competish.
The Abu Dhabi Film Festival runs Oct. 14-23.
