Alex Pettyfer circles DreamWorks’ ‘Number Four’

Actor in talks for teen alien pic produced by Spielberg, Bay

Alex Pettyfer is in talks to play the lead character in DreamWorks Studios’ “I am Number Four,” the teen alien pic to be produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg.

D.J. Caruso is directing from a script by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, based on the book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes set to be published in the fall.

Storyline revolves around a group of nine

Earthbound aliens who escaped their planet just before it was destroyed by a rival species. The group hide out on Earth, disguised as teenagers. The title character (Pettyfer) soon discovers, however, that he is still being hunted by his enemy.

Exec producers are David Valdes, Chris Bender and J.C. Spink.

Pettyfer most recently wrapped CBS Films’ “Beastly,” the modern Beauty and the Beast tale starring Vanessa Hudgens. His previous credits include “Stormbreaker,” based on the best-selling Alex Rider young adult book series. Caruso helmed DreamWorks’ “Disturbia” and “Eagle Eye.”

Thesp is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment.
