Adam Beach signs on for ‘Cowboys’

Thesp join Craig, Ford, Rockwell in Favreau film

Adam Beach has signed on to star in Jon Favreau’s “Cowboys and Aliens,” from DreamWorks Studios and Universal.

Daniel Craig toplines the film, which also stars Harrison Frod, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and Paul Dano.

“Cowboys and Aliens,” based on the popular 2006 graphic novel, is being co-financed by DreamWorks and U.

Favreau is set to begin lensing the pic this summer from a script by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof. Film is set to open July 29, 2011.

Storyline revolves around a group of Apache Indians and Western settlers who resolve to patch up their differences and join forces when an alien spaceship crash-lands in their city.

Beach will play the role of Nat Colorado, a half-Apache who works for Ford’s character (Woodrow Dollarhyde).

Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are producing with Steven Spielberg and Platinum Studios CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. Orci and Kurtzman also are producers.

Beach’s bigscreen credits include Clint Eastwood’s “Flags of Our Fathers.” Television credits inlcude “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee” and HBO’s “Big Love.”
