Abigail Spencer rides with ‘Cowboys’

'Mad Men' actress joins Favreau project

Abigail Spencer (“Mad Men,” “Hawthorne”) is saddling up for Jon Favreau’s sci-fi Western “Cowboys and Aliens,” from DreamWorks Studios and Universal.

Spencer will play the former lover of Daniel Craig’s character. Pic also stars Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and Paul Dano.

Cowboys and Aliens” is based on the Platinum Studios graphic novel created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and is currently shooting in New Mexico.” Producers are Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg and Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, also producers, penned the script with Damon Lindelof.

Pic is set to open July 29, 2011
