Iacono is a well-regarded international TV and film vet who spent the past two years as prexy and managing director of ITV Global Entertainment. At Lionsgate, he’ll serve as managing director of international television, overseeing distribution, sales and marketing, acquisitions, format sales and production. Based in Los Angeles, he’ll report to Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate TV’s prexy of programming and production.
The breadth and depth of Peter’s track record makes him the right executive to orchestrate Lionsgate’s activities in the international marketplace,” Beggs said in announcing the hire.
Iacono succeeds Craig Cegielski as head of Lionsgate’s international TV wing. Cegielski left the mini-major in November to head a new TV division for producer Graham King’s GK Films (Daily Variety, Nov. 18).
Iacono was recruited by ITV to launch the Global Entertainment programming venture in January 2008. He steered the division that handled foreign sales and distribution of ITV’s vast library of more than 40,000 shows.
Before ITV, Iacono spent 12 years at Sony Pictures, serving as head of distribution for Sony Pictures TV Intl. and head of production for Sony Pictures Features Intl.
