The city of Ventura, just to the northwest of Los Angeles, has launched Film Ventura, an advisory committee to promote film and TV production.
In the past the city has hosted films such as “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Erin Brokovich.” More recently is has served the production of the upcoming “Gulliver’s Travels,” starring Jack Black.
Such activity generates revenue in the form of local spending on goods, services and accommodations. “Economic development is a top priority for Ventura and creative-economy industries such as film production have huge growth potential,” said City of Ventura mayor Bill Fulton.
“We have beautiful locations, top local talent and crews, and above all, city support to get your project done on time and under budget,” added local businessman and Film Ventura chair Mark Hartley.
