‘Shutter Island’ still tops box office

'Cop Out,' 'Crazies' in dead heat for second spot

Paramount’s “Shutter Island” continues to scare up business as the Martin Scorsese thriller held on to the top spot for a second week in a row.

The Leonardo DiCaprio starrer racked up an estimated $6.7 mil Friday on 3,003 screens, down about 53% from last week.

Coming in second is Warner Bros. buddy cop pic “Cop Out,” which brought in an estimated $5.9 million from 3,150 screens.

In a dead heat with “Cop Out” is Overture’s horror film “The Crazies” which also brought in about $5.9 million on 2,476 screens.

Fox’s “Avatar” collected an estimated $3.1 million from 2,456 screens.

Rounding out the Friday top five is Warner Bros. “Valentine’s Day,” which collected $2.97 million from 3,578 screens. Fox’s “Percy Jackson” claimed the No. 6 spot, taking in $2.4 million from 3,302 screens.

Relativity/Sony’s “Dear John” was the No. 7 film, bringing in an estimated $1.5 million on 3,006 screens.

Rounding out the bottom three are Universal’s “The Wolfman” with an estimated $1.1 million from 3,043 screens, Fox’s “Tooth Fairy” with an estimated $753,000 from 2,249 screens and Fox Searchlight’s “Crazy Heart” with an estimated $608,000 from 1,148 screens.
