‘Fockers’ tops Friday box office

'True Grit' beats 'Tron' for second spot

Not everyone was last minute shopping on Christmas Eve — some moviegoers headed to the theaters.

Still, the box office was relatively light –- normal for Christmas Eve –- and the top film on Friday was Ben Stiller’s latest, “Little Fockers.” The Universal comedy earned about $5.1 million in 3,536 engagements.

Paramount’s newest pic, “True Grit” collected about $4.8 million in 3,047 runs. Disney’s 3D pic, “Tron Legacy” came in at No. 3 with about $3.9 million in 3,451 engagements, while Fox’s 3D film, “Chronicles of Narnia” took in about $2.2 million in 3,350 runs. Rounding out the top 5 is yet another 3D pic, “Yogi Bear,” which earned about $2.1 million in 3,515 runs.

Disney pic “Tangled” grabbed the No. 6 position, and earned about $1.7 million in 2,582 locations, while Mark Wahlberg’s “The Fighter,” earned about $1.3 million in 2,511 runs. Fox Searchlight’s “Black Swan” earned about $1 million in 1,466 engagements and the bottom two pics come from Sony: “The Tourist” earned about 868,000 in 2,756 runs, and “How Do You Know” collected about $534,000 in

2,483 engagements.
