Pixar draws ShoWest kudos

Animation house to receive Big Ten Award for B.O. hits

Pixar Animation Studios will receive the ShoWest Big Ten Award for producing 10 consecutive box office hits.

Animation house will be feted as theater owners gather next month in Las Vegas for ShoWest, the industry’s annual convention.

During the confab, which runs March 15-18, Disney will screen Pixar’s upcoming 3D toon “Toy Story 3” for exhibs, although only the 2D version will be offered. “Toy Story 3” bows in theaters June 18.

“Since bringing the first-ever computer-animated feature to moviegoing audiences with 1995’s ‘Toy Story,’ Pixar Animation Studios has continued to thrill audiences with outstanding stories on film that have captivated people of all ages all over the world,” ShoWest managing director Robert Sunshine said.
