‘Avatar’ trailer rules online world

Oscar favorite blows away competition again

The buzz in showbiz circles revolves around “Inglorious Basterds” possibly pulling off a best picture upset over “Avatar.” But that surge isn’t reflected in online auds’ viewing habits as the “Avatar” trailer rolls into Oscar weekend with a sizeable lead on the Visible Measures best pic trailer rankings.

Fox’s sci-fi epic is down 21 percent but still has over 1.6 million views. In comparison, The Weinstein Company’s Nazi-killing actioner sits at No. 6 with a one percent increase for just over 163,000 views.

Disney’s “Up” grew 9% to stay at No. 2 with just over 304,000 views.

Another best pic nom gaining buzz, Summit’s “The Hurt Locker,” increased 19% for the No. 3 spot with just over 235,000 views.

Swapping places were Lionsgate’s “Precious” and Par’s “Up in the Air.” Former grew 13% for No. 4 with 192,048 views while latter dropped 11% for No. 5 with 170,441 views.

The second half of the chart is as follows: The aforementioned “Inglourious Basterds” at No. 6; Sony’s “District 9” at No. 7; Warners’ “The Blind Side” at No. 8; Focus’ “A Serious Man” at No. 9; Sony Pictures Classics’ “An Education” at No. 10.
