‘Lassie’ comes home with DQE

Indian toon house pacts with French partners

LONDON — Indian toon house DQ Ent. has signed a co-production pact with French shingles Super Prod. and Story Board Animation, and pubcaster TF1 for “Lassie and Friends.”

The E7 million ($9.7 million) 2D toon skein is targeted at 5-10 year olds and will have 52 episodes.

DQE is co-developing with Classic Media in the U.K., which are the property’s rights holders, and ZDF in Germany, which hold the rights to Germany and German-speaking Europe.

Super Prod. will hold the rights for French-speaking Europe and exploitation of the French version of the series worldwide.

The series is expected to release in fall 2011.

The deal was concluded at the Mipcom market.
