Helping hand at Hub

Philanthropic initiative was announced Sunday

Kids will get a unique path to volunteer and service opportunities through a new partnership between the Hub and generationOn.

Philanthropic initiative was announced Sunday at Variety’s Power of Youth event on the Paramount lot.

The Hub will serve as media partner to generationOn, which comprises more than 30 organizations and 1,800 Kids Care Clubs that have participation from more than 2 million young people in all 50 states as well as overseas.

The partnership offers children ages 3-18 ways to become involved with causes that inspire and interest them.

Kids will be able to go to the new generationOn.org site to get more information about becoming involved and find service opportunities near them. They’ll also be able to download tools from the website that will help them start their own grassroots campaigns like clothing and food drives.

“We’re going to have PSAs on the Hub and integrate the message of service in our programming,” to make kids aware of the impact on the world that they can have, said Lorrie Copeland, senior VP, consumer insights and research for the Hub.
