Adult Swim grabs Corddry online series

'Children's Hospital' travels from Web to cable

Adult Swim is adapting online comedy series “Children’s Hospital,” created by and starring Rob Corddry, for air on the cabler beginning July 11.

Web series premiered on TheWB.com in 2008 and earned Webby Award recognition for its parodies of primetime medical dramas like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “House.” Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally and Henry Winkler are among the regular cast.

Online segments of “Children’s Hospital” run about five minutes; Adult Swim will launch its broadcasts of the series by pairing two of those segments once a week for five weeks. On Aug. 22 it will begin offering 12 newly produced, made-for-TV 10-minute episodes.

Series has a lengthy guest cast list including Ed Begley Jr., Lizzy Caplan, John Cho, Rachael Harris, Ernie Hudson, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Nick Kroll, Nick Offerman, Marion Ross, Will Sasso and Kurtwood Smith.

Corddry exec produces with Jonathan Stern and David Wain (director of “Role Models” and “Wet Hot American Summer”). Warner Bros. TV is the distributor.
