‘Dragon’ premiere takes wing

DreamWorks launches 'Train' in 3D

Hollywood’s tot set formed long lines for toys and foam swords outside the Gibson Amphitheater Sunday following the premiere of DreamWorks Animation’s “How to Train Your Dragon.”

Before the lights went down, DreamWorks topper Jeffrey Katzenberg asked a few of the 3D pic’s key filmmakers to stand and take a bow, including exec producers Kristine Belson and Tim Johnson as well as Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, who directed and wrote the screenplay based on the bestselling children’s series by Cressida Cowell, who was also on hand.

The voice cast — including Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, Craig Ferguson and Jonah Hill — brightened the red carpet, as did a 1,200-pound, 6-foot-tall faux dragon, which guests could ride on.

“In the old days they used to say ‘Roll it!’?” Katzenberg told the audience just before the movie. “Today, we have to say ‘Put on your glasses, and push the button!’ “
