Levi Johnston tells Variety’s Mike Schneider that he’s running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, as part of a new reality show that is being pitched around Hollywood.
While that means that Johnston and Sarah Palin have dueling reality shows shooting in the state, it also means that Johnston is following in the footsteps of the mother of his son Tripp. The show will be titled, “Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office.”
“It’s hard to figure me out,” he said. “You’ve got to follow me around. I’m very different. I lead a crazy life. But it will basically be both worlds, my life in Hollywood and back home, the real country boy that I am.”
Johnston confirms that he and on-again, off-again fiance Bristol Palin (now off) took pitches for their own reality show.
Update: His campaign manager, Tank Jones, tells Variety, “We’re going to go for governor after mayor. I’m the campaign manager. If
we successfully do the mayor thing, we’re going to do the governorship.
We’re not trying to copy anybody, but we feel he can better serve these
two positions that have been so light for so long. He’s going to come
in and try to help the people.”
