Tonight, a group of young Hollywood activists will gather at an event at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills to talk about cleanup efforts. But the prospects for a bill to address the overriding issue — energy and the environment — are in doubt as Congress heads toward a summer recess.
Today, T. Boone Pickens, the unlikely champion of alternative fuels and other forms of energy, unveiled a new chapter in his “PickensPlan,” via a whiteboard video that updates progress since he first got started two years ago. When it comes to elminating the importation of OPEC oil, it’s not a lot. But Pickens describes the “low hanging fruit” than can cut OPEC consumption in half, by converting 8 million diesel powered 18 wheelers to natural gas.
