Ebert Tweets Into Partisan Fray

Roger Ebert guests on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” today, following an amazing profile in Esquire on his battle with cancer and his inability to speak or eat.

His focus has been on writing, and Tweeting, and he’s not only one of the more prolific high-profile Tweeters, he’s one of the more creative (as Tweeting goes), focusing as much on politics (he’s an unabashed liberal) as he does movie criticism.

Scott Collins of the Los Angeles Times writes that Ebert has aimed many of his barbs at the tea party movement, calling them TeePees and even worse, but also claiming that they are being “manipulated to oppose their own best interests.”

Today Ebert Tweeted on Jim Bunning: “Demos and GOPs should simply form a relay team to find out how long Jim Bunning can stay awake.” Or there’s this one from Sunday, on faux populism: “Let’s have a show of hands. Who here is against Freedom?”
