At a fund-raiser tonight, Vice President Joseph Biden said that President Obama said at this morning’s presidential briefing, “You know what the best thing about yesterday was? Joe’s comment.”

Biden used the phrase “big f–king deal” in introducing Obama before the health care bill signing ceremony, apparently unaware that it was picked up by a live mike.

Biden added that Obama tried to have a T-shirt with the remark emblazoned on it, but he could not get it in time, per a White House pool report.

He called the remark a “faux pas” and said that all that he could think about when he learned that the comment was picked up was, “Thank God my mom’s not…” The audience at the fund-raiser was laughing too loud to capture the rest of Biden’s remark.

Biden did say that Democrats can expect losses during the midterms. In 2008, he said, “Barack generated such an overwhelming turnout and enthusiasm, that we had the biggest turnout in history. It was gigantic. And a lot of really good Democrats got washed up on shore and all of a sudden were Congressmen, in districts that Democrats have no business having Congressmen.”
