Back to Hollywood

Kalpenmodi18_500 Kal Penn is returning to his roots: He’s leading his post in the White House’s Office of Public Engagement to return to Hollywood to star in another “Harold & Kumar” pic.

Following stories that New Line was looking to another sequel, Entertainment Weekly confirmed with Penn’s reps that he would be leaving to shoot the pic.

Penn joined the Obama administration last year, at a drastically reduced salary, but he said back then that his tenure would probably be just a year or so. His character on “House” had been killed off before he left.

Since then, Penn has kept a low profile in the office, and has gone by his real name, Kalpen Modi, even as he handled outreach to the Asian-American Pacific Islander community and the arts
community.

Austan Goolsbee, White House economic advisor, quipped to ABC News today, “I’m hurt and offended that you didn’t ask whether the million dollar
Hollywood contracts were calling for me. I have not
accepted any such contract at this point.”
