Korea’s PiFan unveils It Project pics

Fifteen films will compete in the genre mart

The Puchon Fantastic Film Festival’s Network of Asian Fantastic Films has unveiled the 15 films that will compete at the It Project genre film mart.

According to the Korean fest’s organizers, 74 projects were submitted from 21 countries.

Among the 15 are works from well-known Asian filmmakers including Hong Kong’s Pang Ho Cheung and

Choi Yong-bae, producer of Korean hit “The Host,” who will present “M 45” a Korea-China co-production helmed by China’s Zhang Ming.

The 15 finalists will get one-on-on business meetings with international film producers and investors. a jury will choose the winner, which will get a monetary prize and help with post-production.

Now in its third year, the winner of last year’s selection, Japanese helmer Yu Irie’s “Tsubaki hime,” world preemed at the Yubari Fantastic Film Festival 2010.

The 14th Puchon Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) runs July 15-25, NAFF runs July 18-22.
