LONDON — U.K. “super-indie” All3Media has tapped BBC Worldwide’s head of content and production, Wayne Garvie, for a key international role.
Garvie, who helped mastermind the success of “Dancing With the Stars” in the U.S., will join the shingle as managing director of international production in January.
He said: “BBC Worldwide’s content and production business is in excellent shape and in very safe hands.
“However, All3Media represents a terrific opportunity for new challenges and experiences, which I simply cannot resist.”
At All3 Media, Garvie, a BBC entertainment topper before joining Worldwide in 2006, will be responsible for building the shingle’s U.S. presence and pursuing growth in Latin America and Europe.
BBC Worldwide’s CEO John Smith said: “Wayne has had an exemplary career at the BBC, including the last four years at BBC Worldwide.
“He goes with our gratitude for all he has done, particularly in establishing our international production base and taking fantastic shows such as ‘Dancing With the Stars’ to the world.”
Worldwide’s Helen Jackson, director of the Indies Unit, will do Garvie’s job on an acting basis until a permanent successor is appointed.
