First Run grabs ‘Altiplano’ in U.S.

Andes-set pic stars Magaly Solier

BRUSSELS — First Run Features will distribute Belgian spiritual drama “Altiplano” in the U.S.

Directed by Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth, the film tells a story of sacrifice and redemption set in the high Andes. Pic, starring Magaly Solier, has been something of a sleeper since bowing at Cannes, although it did take top prize at the Bangkok Film Festival in September.

Renewed interest may be ascribed to Solier’s starring role in Peru’s foreign-language Oscar hopeful, “The Milk of Sorrow.”

North American rights were sold by Meridiana Films following deals for Australia and a handful of Euro territories.
