TV Guide Network has tapped Friday Abernethy exec veep of affiliate sales and marketing. Abernethy joins the cabler after spending 12 years with MTV Networks, most recently as a veep in its content distribution wing.

Rob Hershenson has been upped to VP of marketing operations and creative services for Universal Music Group Distribution. Prior to this promotion, Hershenson was senior director of marketing operations and creative services for UMGD.

Melina Gerosa Bellows has been named chief creative officer for National Geographic Kids and Family. Bellows, a 10-year Nat Geo vet, will develop games and digital media for the division. She also oversee the company’s children books division and serves as editor-in-chief of National Geographic Kids and Little Kids magazines.

MTV has appointed Meeri Park Cunniff as senior veep of programming strategy for MTV. She’ll oversee franchise management for key MTV properties and strategy for MTV2 and MTV’s digital networks. Cunniff comes to MTV from TeenNick, where she was senior VP of programming.

Michael Grover and Cindy Slocki have joined the marketing wing of the Hub, the joint kidvid venture of Discovery Communications and Hasbro. Grover, an alum of Cartoon Network, serves as director of consumer marketing. Slocki, previously brand director for United Media, is director of integrated marketing solutions.

David Rand and Gina Gilardi Portman have joined Maya Entertainment. Rand, previously with Lionsgate, will serve as exec veep of Maya’s home entertainment division. Portman, who comes from Echo Bridge Entertainment, will serve as VP of home entertainment marketing.
