Endemol expands in New York

Company opens Gotham office, adds veeps

Reality behemoth Endemol USA is getting bigger, opening a New York office in order to expand its East Coast presence.

As part of its growing ranks, Endemol is also hiring three new vice presidents — including two in development and one in production.

The New York office will report to Endemol North America chairman David Goldberg, who’s based in Los Angeles. Goldberg oversaw the expansion as an opportunity to move further into producing for cable. Many of the top cable network buyers, stars and producers are based on the East Coast, the company noted.

Endemol already owns two production shingles based in New York — Original Media and True Entertainment. The new office space will exist in addition to those two companies’ locations. With the new hires, Endemol USA now boasts a development staff of 14 execs.

New to the team are Dave Hamilton, who will serve as VP of development in the new New York office, as well as Noah Beery, who will serve as VP of production. Also on board: Michael Weinberg, VP of development in Los Angeles.

Hamilton and Weinberg will report to Endemol USA senior VP of development Caroline Baumgard.

Baumgard, who oversees non-scripted development at the company, is a 10-year Endemol vet who has helped develop the company’s signature shows, such as “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and “Wipeout.”

“Michael Weinberg and Dave Hamilton have incredible experience in both production and development, and they will be important players in continuing to help build successful Endemol shows and brands,” Baumgard said. “By having support on both coasts, this will allow us to have an even larger presence than we do now.”

Hamilton joins Endemol from VH1, where he served as VP of development and production, working on shows such as “Tool Academy” and “What Chilli Wants.”

Weinberg most recently worked as a co-exec producer on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” as well as Fox’s “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” and Comedy Central’s “The Showbiz Show.”

As for Beery, exec will report to Endemol senior VP Rob Day. Beery previously spent time as a production exec at MTV.
