Hong Kong helmer Pang Ho-cheung’s slasher “Dream Home” will open Italy’s 12th Udine Far East Festival on April 23.
Udine, Europe’s preeminent Far East cinema showcase, is touting “Dream Home” as “the bloodiest slasher movie ever produced in Hong Kong.”
Josie Ho (“Exiled”) stars as a young woman who goes to extreme measures when she can no longer afford the house of her dreams.
Ho produced “Dream Home” via her startup 852 Films. Fortissimo Films has world rights, excluding Hong Kong.
Soundtrack is by Tokyo-based Italian musician Gabriele Roberto, who also composed the score for Pang’s 2007 satirical thriller “The Exodus.”
“Dream Home” will unspool Stateside at New York’s Tribeca Festival next month.
More than 60 fresh features from Hong Kong, mainland China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan will unspool over nine days in Udine, which is in the northeast part of Italy.
